Purpose:
The position of an over-the-road driver is responsible for a variety of job responsibilities at MRS. KLEIN’S KOSHER PICKLE CO ® The purpose of the job description is to ensure that the person who is assigned the position is aware of the basic functions of the position and what their part is in our safe quality food initiative. This person reports directly to our Logistics Manager.
The responsibility of the Driver is to be able to perform the general duties as outlined below. This is not an all-inclusive list of job responsibilities and can change as business needs dictate.
General Duties:
- Understand all DOT compliance regulations.
- Monitor all commercial vehicles to ensure DOT compliance.
- Arrange for all vehicle repairs and ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records for all drivers’ logs.
- Maintain accurate records on vehicle maintenance.
- Coordinate with the safety company on all compliance issues.
- Review all invoices pertaining to vehicle repairs and parts approved for payment.
- Check weights on all shipments to ensure shipments are within legal load limits.
- If an issue arises with paperwork, load delays, or accidents, you will need to contact your immediate supervisor immediately.
- Maintain tablet with Big Road ELDs.
- Make sure all driver hours are shared with management on a timely basis.
- Monitor all your ELDs for locations and violations.
- Ensure all shipments are delivered in a safe and timely manner.
- Ensures Quality Assurance of outgoing loads to maintain customer satisfaction per contract requirements.
- Understand Mrs. Klein’s GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Pre & Post Trip Inspections
- Keep the truck and trailer clean and orderly.
